What is baldness?

Baldness known as androgenetic alopecia or common baldness is a medical condition of lack, partial or total hair due to a progressive thinning of the scalp. The thinning is due to the miniaturization process of the stem that ends in the disappearance of the follicle. The increased activity of 5 alpha-reductase type II, which converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, is the determining factor in baldness. The disease occurs in men more than women, in which the menopause, policystyc ovaric or androgen therapy contribute to the evolution of baldness.

Phytocomplex which is useful for reducing loss and hair loss?

Piperine contained in black pepper, belongs to the family of Piperaceae, will slow down hair loss. In the treatment of androgenetic alopecia, the green tea can be a good choice because it can influence the level of hormones circulating in the blood. The intake of green tea was associated with increased levels of SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) and estradiol in women. The increase in SHBG may be helpful in reducing people from seeing the androgenetic alopecia. The components of greatest pharmacological interest are the polyphenols of green tea and purine bases, represented mainly by caffeine (or protein). Among the numerous polyphenols (25-35%) prevail catechins (flavanols), as reproduced by reason of 20-30%. The best known and most studied of these compounds is epigallocatechin gallate, a major component of the polyphenolic fraction of green tea, other compounds present in smaller percentages are epigallocatechin, epicatechin and epicatechin gallate. There are also flavonols and flavonglycosides (kempferolo, quercetin, myricetin and their glycosides) at a rate of 3-4%, and small amounts of phenolic acids, hydrolysable tannins, saponins, with strong antioxidant activity. Curcumin, present in Curcuma Longa, inhibits 5-alpha-reductase, with the consequent process of miniaturization of the hair follicle, shortening the growth phase and depigmentation of the hair until it is completely free. Recent studies have also demonstrated a strong involvement of curcumin in AD treatment. The Nettle is an herb very rich in minerals, including silica useful against the painful joint problems. It should be considered an excellent vitamin and mineral supplement can increase the robustness and stimulating growth of hair and nails. Some recent studies have reported an important activity of the enzyme 5 alpha reductase inhibition by astaxanthin also something that was useful to decrease the symptoms of 'prostatic hyperplasia and to fight prostate cancer. The same compound, according to these studies, it seems to increase the effectiveness of saw palmetto extract in its anti-DHT and is therefore useful for use in the field trichological androgenetic alopecia.
